ASTM B166 Alloy 690 Bright Bar, ASTM B166 Alloy 690 Flat Bar, UNS N06690 Hex Bar, UNS N06690 Half Round Bar, ASTM B166 Alloy 690 Threaded Bar, DIN 2.4642 Polished Bar, ASME SB166 Hot Rolled Bar, DIN 2.4642 Deformed Bar, ASME SB166 Alloy 690 Rectangular Bar.
The ASTM B166 Alloy 690 Bright Bar is a nickel-based product used in high-temperature and corrosion-resistant applications. Compared to other nickel alloys, Alloy 690 has superior resistance to corrosion and oxidation at extremely high temperatures. The properties come from its chemical makeup, mainly nickel and amounts of chromium and iron.
This metal material offers excellent corrosion resistance in acidic environments with high amounts of chlorides, making it well-suited for the chemical processing industry. Industries like fossil and nuclear power generation, petrochemical processing, and waste management leverage these characteristics of ASTM B166 Alloy 690 Threaded Bar.
Components made from alloy 690 retain strength and durability more than other alloys when exposed to stress corrosion, cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion. The round bar format provides versatility for machining into end-use parts.
Depending on the specifications, the round ASME SB166 Hot Rolled Bar round bar may undergo additional treatments like annealing, which alters the existing crystalline structure to achieve alternate physical properties. Engineers select Alloy 690 round bars specifically for its high levels of tensile strength at extremely high temperatures and pressures well beyond what carbon or stainless steel can withstand.
This nickel alloy transitions exceptionally well from extremely cold temperatures up to 1600°F while retaining robust physical integrity. Owing to these attributes, UNS N06690 Hex Bar finds widespread implementation across heat exchangers, condensers, seamless tubing, and pipes exposed to severely caustic media with pressures exceeding 6000 psi. It also serves well for combustion train components, thermowell, pollutant equipment parts, and other installations prone to thermal fluctuations.
When shaped into intricate components using welding, forging, and machining processes, Alloy 690 parts deliver reliable longevity over extended operational durations, reducing replacement frequency.
With its excellent fabrication characteristics and outstanding corrosion resistance, even in severely high-temperature sulfuric acid, alkaline, salt water, or hydrogen sulfide environments, cement DIN 2.4642 Polished Bar is a top choice over alternate alloys.
