ASTM B166 Inconel 602CA Triangle Bar, JIS NCF 602CA Cold Drawn Bar, ASTM B166 Inconel 602CA Threaded Bar, UNS N06025 Black Bar, Werkstoff Nr 2.4633 Peeled Round Bar, Werkstoff Nr 2.4633 Polished Bar, UNS N06025 Hexagonal Bar, UNS N06025 Hex Bar, UNS N06025 Half Round Bar, JIS NCF 602CA Hot Rolled Bar.
Inconel 602 is a hardening nickel-based alloy with outstanding high-temperature oxidation and carburization resistance. The “CA” in 602CA stands for “controlled carburization annealed”. This means the alloy has undergone an annealing heat treatment that allows some controlled surface carburization.
The controlled carburization creates a thin, stable chromium carbide layer on the surface, improving high-temperature oxidation resistance. So, UNS N06025 Hex Bar can withstand very high-temperature environments – up to 2200°F in some cases.
This makes it well-suited for things exposed to extreme heat, like furnace parts, heat-treating equipment, and jet engine combustion zones. The high chrome content (22-25%) also gives good sulfidation and hot corrosion resistance.
ASTM B166 Inconel 602CA Round Bar maintains its strength to about 1800°F. Above that, creep resistance drops off, so it isn’t typically used in load-bearing applications much higher than that. It also has excellent cryogenic properties, meaning it retains ductility and fracture toughness at extremely cold temperatures like those used for LNG storage and transport. This compound’s low-temperature strength and outstanding corrosion resistance make 602CA useful for various demanding applications.
When it comes to fabricating and machining UNS N06025 Black Bar, there are some challenges. It is a precipitation-hardened nickel alloy that can only be cold-worked with, significantly reducing its strength. Hot working must be done between 1800-2100°F.
Like all nickel alloys, 602CA work hardens rapidly, so frequent annealing is needed when machining to avoid excessive tool wear issues. Rigid equipment, specialized cutting tools, ample coolant, and proper technique are also required. More effort is involved in fabricating parts from 602CA, but it may be warranted to gain its exceptional performance.
